Revolve, Inc. offers two ways to earn your bicycle! 950 Participants have completed the Program and you can too!
Complete either of these programs and pay a $10 participant fee to help cover Revolve’s costs to refurbish the bicycles and you can earn a good, quality, used bicycle to commute to work or to class. Sometimes, there is grant money to cover the suggested $10 program fee, so please do not let that stop you! The bikes typically available in the Earn-a-Bike Program are refurbished bikes from non name brand manufacturers such as Huffy, Roadmaster, Murray, Next, Free Spirit, Magna, etc. Click here to access a flyer to help us promote this Program!
Bike Safety Class (Traffic Skills 101)
Anyone aged 14 years and older can take a free online bike safety course from the League of American Bicyclists. After successfully completing the online course, participants make arrangements with Revolve staff for the on-bike portion of the course. Youth from a household that are younger than 14 “get” a bike when their parents/older siblings “earn” theirs. Youth older than 10 can join their family for the road test at the discretion of their parents. ON AVERAGE, PARTICIPANTS REPORT INVESTING 2 TO 2.5 HOURS TO COMPLETE THE TEST, not the 4 that is suggested on www.bikeed.org
Simply complete the free online bike safety course at www.bikeed.org. Please select Kansas City as your region when you register on this site. Pass the test with a score of a-least 70%, then call Elizabeth at 816.835.3310 to schedule a 30 minute on-bike skills test. When you come in for your on bike portion of the program please wear tennis shoes and appropriate clothing. No flip flops!
Please Note: It can be a challenge to accommodate individuals taller than 6ft in the Earn-a-Bike Program. We’ll put you on the tallest bike we have at the time you complete the program, but for the best experience, you’ll want to start saving some money for an upgrade.
Volunteer at The Bike Shop
